Thread Winter 08
Every year we make it a action item to make sure we get to as many of these Thread Shows as they are going to have. We love Thread! In a nutshell, it’s a high-fashion flea market—without a flea in sight—where you can find the latest and next greatest at a fraction of the retail cost from the vendors themselves. You can meet the artists and designers first hand and watch their swag sway down the runway at one of the many fashions shows they have throughout the day.
The latest show was at the Big Tent at the Sheraton Hotel on Harbor Island on Sunday, December 14th and the venue delivered. The free cocktails sponsored by Cruzen Rum & Absolut 100 and dawn til dusk DJ set was all that some of our entourage needed, but for the most part we met and became customers of some great designers and labels that we hope to feature and promote here on NoGoodz in the future…
InkStain Apparel - These girls were so awesome, the only thing a little awesomer was their clothing line - www.inkstainapparel.com
Collar-Free - Oddly enough I bookmarked their site earlier that week, great idea by a local biz - www.collarfree.com
Frank Dandy - Flannels are all of a sudden “in”, and instead of diggin’ out my old ones from storage (remember: I did it first) I got some snazzy nice new ones from these guys, although thier site just has undies - www.frankdandy.com
Correlation Designs - This duo was really nice and had a great feel about them and their work - www.correlationdesigns.com
About Thread:
Thread’s in it’s 5th Anniversary and when in SD has set root all over from Museums to Seaports. From their site:
“THREAD is the leading independent fashion and lifestyle event, with stops across the world, from San Diego to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Seattle, Miami, and Bristol, UK. This shopping event thrives on the passion of Alex Matthews and Lara Matthews, the brother-sister duo dedicated to discovering the next best independent designers and showcasing their cutting-edge trends in an all-eccentric all-embracing urban party atmosphere.”
Neat! You can learn more about them and catch their upcoming dates at www.threadshow.com

Now, I’m sure you are asking yourself “Why isn’t the No Good Shop selling at Thread?” Well, my friends, we’ve done that route at a variety of similar events when No Good was solely art and apparel. But now that we’ve branched out to news and reviews, we felt our energies were best spent spreading the good vibes about such designers and labels that attended as:
Subtext - Awesome bookstore-ish type store in SD that recently has moved, but I have been to before that…cool stuff, fer sure - www.subtextstore.com
Natures Mistake - These guys were great and I felt I could’ve totally hung out with them if I weren’t runnin out the door, but their stuff is top-friggin’-notch! - www.naturesmistake.net
KNGLY - These guys cornered the “cool but not too cool T-shirts for well-built guys” angle… and have a great use of metallic ink, if that’s possible - www.kngly.com
Motor City Legends - This is another example of top notch stuff, totally rock-n-roll - www.motorcitylegends.com
As we said earlier, catch Thread’s upcoming dates at www.threadshow.com in such cities as San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Seattle, Miami, and Bristol, UK. We’ll cover the S.D. angle from here…
